William M. Spruill, Sr., age 76 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, February 13, 2025, at his residence. He was born March 24, 1948, in Creswell, NC, the son of Otis Odell Spruill and Grace Olena Spruill (nee Ambrose).

On May 13, 1993, he married Susan Kay Carter in Chesapeake, VA, who survives.
Born in Creswell, NC, then moving to Norfolk, VA, William worked in maintenance for many years. Upon his retirement, at the age of 62, he moved to Edwardsville, IL, then to Highland, IL, six years ago. William loved woodworking, painting, and yardwork. After he retired, he enjoyed decorating and taking care of the house.

He is survived by his wife, Susan K. (nee Carter); children - William M. Spruill, Jr. of Jarrettsville, Maryland, Marvin Scott (Jamie) Spruill of Attica, Virginia, and Sherry Lynn (Keith) Franklin of Edwardsville, Illinois; grandchildren – Addrianna Grace Spruill, Michaela Cathy Franklin, Andrew Lee Franklin, Gage Scout Spruill, Cody Michael Spruill, and Kelly Lee Spruill; great grandchildren – Ezmae Lynn Spruill, Wyatt Bock Spruill, and Sage Renee Spruill; Siblings – Tim Spruill, Chuck Ray Spruill, and Kathy Dale Spruill.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Odell Spruill and Grace Olena Spruill (nee Ambrose).
