William J. “Bill” Robinson, age 80, of Breese, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon. He was born May 13, 1946, in Granite City, a son of the late Leonard Robinson and Dorothy Causey (nee Wright). Bill was raised by his maternal grandparents, Walker and Bessie Wright.

Bill married the love of his life, Myra Robinson (nee Jackson), on December 31, 1965, in Madison, where they were also baptized together at the Baptist Church. Their marriage was built on a foundation of love, faith, and devotion that carried them through more than 60 years together.

In addition to his loving wife, Myra, Bill is survived by his daughter, Shirley Davis of Breese; grandchildren, Douglas Robinson, Miranda Curry, Brandon Robinson, David Halfacre, Anthony Gray, and Damien Davis; half-brothers, Doug (Kathy) Malone of Germantown and Gary Causey of Centralia; sisters-in-law, Joanie Jackson and Jill Jackson; and nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, William “Jimmy” Robinson; daughters, Treasa Stofferahn and Melissa “Missy” Robinson; half-sister, Joyce Causey; half-brother, Van Causey; parents-in-law, Glen and Hilda (nee Bond) Jackson; and sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley (Clarence) Blackburn, Dale “Bud” Jackson, David Jackson, Gary Jackson, and Roy Jackson.

Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Army, faithfully serving his country from 1964 to 1981, including two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant at Fort Rucker, AL, following 17 years of dedicated military service. His love for his country and respect for his fellow veterans remained an important part of his life. Following his military retirement, Bill continued his strong work ethic as an employee in the dietary department at Warren G. Murray Center in Centralia.

Bill took great pride in his military service and the lifelong bonds shared among veterans. He was actively involved in several veterans' organizations, including Carlyle VFW Post 3523, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 269, and Disabled American Veterans.

Outside of his military service and work, Bill enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved antiquing and searching for interesting finds, trying his luck gambling, and listening to his favorite classic country and rock and roll music. Above all, Bill treasured time spent with his family.
