Vicki Lucille Buechler, age 77 of Highland, IL, died Friday, July 4, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was born on Thursday, July 31, 1947, in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of James and Helen (nee Cease) Galvin.

On Friday, May 16, 1969, she married Norman Joseph Buechler in Belleville, IL, who survives.

Mrs. Buechler was born in East St. Louis, Illinois. She attended Academy of Notre Dame High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science, as well as her master’s degree in elementary education at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. In addition to raising her family, she did substitute teaching in the Highland area. Vicki also was a proofreader for the Highland News Leader. She enjoyed reading and was impressed with the power of the written word. Vicki was one the sweetest people you could ever hope to meet. She and Norm enjoyed dining out at restaurants in the area. Movies and movie theaters were always something that she enjoyed. Taking care of her son and husband were a high priority. For the last 6 1/2 years she has lived in a helping/care facility.

She was preceded in death by:
Father - James Francis Galvin, Jr., died 3/16/2012
Mother - Helen Lorraine Galvin (nee Cease), died 12/25/1998

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

There are no services being held.

Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
