Ruth A. Richter, age 87 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Hickory Estates in Greenville, IL.

She was born on Sunday, September 20, 1936, in Pierron, IL, the daughter of Leo and Frances (nee Daiber) Knebel.

On Thursday, June 7, 1956, she married Donald C. Richter at Pierron, IL, who passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

She was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church and Highland Country Club.

Ruth was born near Pierron, IL and grew up on the family farm. She attended Immaculate Conception School in Pierron. She and Don met at the Madison County Fair where he was showing cattle. Ruth had worked at the clock factory in Highland and Basler Electric. For many years she was an employee of her husband's business, Korte Richter Meats. They enjoyed travelling and had been to Alaska, Germany, Lake of the Ozarks and others. Ruth enjoyed playing golf and bridge. She was a member of several bridge clubs. She collected dolls for a number of years. Christmas was the season, she was always decorating, shopping for gifts and preparing meals. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting and scrapbooking.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Fr. Mariadas Chatla, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.
