Jeanette Carol Horstmann, age 78, of Trenton, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born July 10, 1948, in Breese, the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (nee Maue) Hemann.

On September 19, 1969, she married her high school sweetheart Dennis Joseph Horstmann at St. Boniface Catholic Church, he survives in Trenton. Jeanette is also survived by her sons, Bruce (Hayley) Horstmann and Brian (Tara) Horstmann; grandchildren, Tyler Horstmann, Bradyn Horstmann, Elijah Horstmann and Emma Leigh Horstmann; brother, Edward (Janice) Hemann; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Glen Horstmann, Mark (Mary Ann) Horstmann, Eva (Mike) Koch, Lee Wellen, Matt (Betsy) Horstmann, Dottie (Kevin) Burton and Jeanne (Ron) Thole.

She is preceded in death by parents; grandson, Kyle Horstmann; parents-in-law, Eugene and Dorothy Horstmann; sisters, Betty Schulte and Dolores Horstmann; and brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Ferd Schulte, Paul Horstmann, Lucy Wellen and Diane Horstmann.

Jeanette went to Germantown Grade School and Mater Dei High School and graduated with the class of 1966. She and Dennis lived in Aviston for 15 years, then they moved to Trenton and took over Dennis’ father’s farm. She started work at St. Joseph Hospital (in the old Highland Hospital), then when the new hospital was built, she worked there for a few years. She stayed at home to raise her children and then went back to work in 1992 and worked at Walmart in Highland for over 20 years, until she retired.

Jeanette lived a life rooted in faith, community, and service. As a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Sodality, her faith was a central part of her life.

She was deeply dedicated to supporting veterans as a former member of both the Trenton VFW Auxiliary and an active member of the Aviston American Legion Auxiliary and Carlyle VFW Auxiliary 3523, truly enjoying the fellowship and time spent at the auxiliary hall. A member of the Clinton County Farm Bureau, Jeanette fully embraced farm life whether she was helping her neighbors or confidently driving a tractor.

Creative and full of life, she loved quilting, painting, and going dancing. Above all, Jeanette loved her family and found immense joy in supporting and helping her beloved grandson, Kyle.
