Iona "Ione" A Walter, age 94 of Ellisville, MO, died Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Ellisville residence.

She was born on Friday, September 12, 1930, in Pocahontas, IL, the daughter of Erwin and Ella (nee Linenefelser) Wagner.

On Thursday, November 23, 1950, she married Warren N. Walter at St. Paul Catholic Church, who passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Anne Altar Society.

Mrs. Walter was born in Pocahontas, Illinois on the family farm west of town; she grew up on the farm and attended Harnet Country School. She graduated from St. Paul High School class of 1948 in Highland, Illinois. During high school Iona worked at Wicks Organ Company in the plant, she continued to work there as a secretary after graduation over 8 years. Following her marriage she devoted her time to raising her family and supporting her husband. After her children were grown in 1986, she worked part-time at Schatte's True Value and the Highland Home in Highland, Illinois. She enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening and always had flowers in her yard. She was very devoted to her family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL and from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Service/Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at St . Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL, with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel, pastor, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, IL.

Interment will be at Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland, IL.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul School Educational Foundation, Masses to St. Paul Catholic Church or to the Highland Home.
