Emma Lou Holzinger, age 90 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, IL.

She was born on Sunday, August 26, 1934, in Trenton, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (nee Haas) Ritzheimer.

On Saturday, October 15, 1955, she married Loren L. Holzinger at Carlyle, IL, who passed away on Friday, December 13, 2013.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL; V.F.W. Post # 5694 Auxiliary-Highland, IL (joined 1955); Lee Iten Post-American Legion #439 Auxiliary-Highland, IL; Highland Sportsman Club.

Mrs. Holzinger was born in Trenton, Illinois; attended St. Mary Catholic Grade School and graduated from Aviston Catholic High School in 1952. She worked at the Trenton Shoe Factory and following her marriage, moved to Highland, Illinois. Emma Lou and Loren spent a lot of time at the VFW; she managed the little girls Khory leagues and he helped with the boys leagues. Mrs. Holzinger had helped several ladies and businesses with catering in the Highland area including the VFW Friday night Fish Fries. She enjoyed playing softball as a youth and was instrumental in starting the "over 40" women's softball league in Highland. She enjoyed fishing, camping, mushroom hunting and walking her dog.

Private Graveside Service will Monday, November 11, 2024, at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.

Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, IL.
