Eileen Sorenson, age 90 of Highland, IL, died Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Cedarhurst of Highland in Highland, IL.

She was born on Sunday, October 20, 1935, in Walcott, ND, the daughter of Elmer and Carolina “Lena” (nee Aarhus) Evenson.

On Sunday, November 22, 1959, she married Sanford Sorenson at Walcott Lutheran Church in Walcott, ND, who passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

She was a member of Lutheran Faith in Bismark, ND. She was also a member of Homemakers Club in Fargo, ND and the Bismark Square Dance Club.

Eileen was born in Walcott, ND, where she grew up. She met her husband in Fargo, ND. She babysat for many families in Fargo and Bismark. When Eileen and Sanford started a family they moved to West Fargo ND, and then to Bismark in 1981. In 1995, they moved to Arizona for warmer weather. After her husband passed, Eileen moved to St. Louis then to Highland to be closer to family. Eileen enjoyed playing cards, participating in Cedarhurst and The Highland Home Activities and Square Dancing. She also loved traveling to visit family.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL

Interment will be held Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO at a later date. She will be buried alongside her husband, Sanford.
