Dolores J. Schemel, age 89, of Bartelso, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at Breese Nursing Home. She was born September 15, 1935, in Bartelso, a daughter of the late John W. and Johanna M. (nee List) Schemel.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her sisters, Theresia M. Schemel and Rita A. Schemel.

Dolores is survived by her brother, John J. Schemel of Bartelso.

A dedicated housekeeper and caregiver, Dolores devoted much of her life to caring for her parents, aunts, and uncles. She also worked at Gross Lamps and was a proud and active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso.

Dolores possessed a remarkable talent for handiwork and creativity. She enjoyed sewing, stitching, rug making, crocheting, crafting stained glass, gardening, canning, and fishing.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso with Fr. Thomas Lugge presiding. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Bartelso.

Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2024, from 8:45 – 9:45 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5 ^th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
