David E. Long, age 85 of Marine, IL, died Saturday, May 31, 2025, at HSHS Saint Elizabeth Hospital in O'Fallon, IL.

He was born on Sunday, April 21, 1940, in Cairo, IL, the son of Marshall and Anna Mae (nee Jones) Long.

On Wednesday, March 5, 1958, he married Nelda Louise Long (nee Leonberger), who preceded him in death earlier this year on Thursday, February 10, 2025.

David and Nelda lived in East St. Louis, IL until they moved to Marine, IL in 1972. Throughout his life, David was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing and relaying the tales of those adventures to anyone who would listen. He also adored traveling and dancing with his wife. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Pastor James and Lylia Altom, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Great Grandchildren for education in the care of Stephanie Sullivan.
