Cynthia Sue "Cindy" Shires, age 77 of Highland, IL, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL.

She was born on Monday, August 11, 1947, in Sparta, IL, the daughter of Earl and Shirley (nee Hille) Wente.

Cindy was born in Sparta, Illinois. She graduated Deland High School in Deland, Florida. Cindy was active in the Evangelical United Church of Christ and enjoyed Bible Study. Throughout her lifetime, she worked at Basler Electric, BJC Healthcare and the EvUCC office.

Sister - Janis K. (Dennis) Foehner, Highland, IL
Son - Dustin B. Shires
Grandchild - Aaron M. Shires
Grandchild - Anastasia Shires

She was preceded in death by:
Father - Earl Byron "Beans" Wente (died 5/20/2002)
Mother - Shirley Nell Wente, nee Hille (died 5/8/1999)
Son - Nathan B. Shires (died 10/12/2018)

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
