Charles A. "Charlie" Fangmeyer

Charles A. “Charlie” Fangmeyer, age 84, of Godfrey and formerly of Breese, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was born September 25, 1942, in Breese, a son of the late Alphonse and Laura (nee Schniers) Fangmeyer.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Powell.

Charlie is survived by his siblings, Kathleen (Mokey) Deiters and Rick (Connie) Fangmeyer, all of Breese; nieces and nephews; and his best friend, John Ahrling of Godfrey. Charlie was especially happy to have recently spent time with John at his home on Charlie’s birthday, a visit that meant a great deal to him.

Charlie spent more than 25 years working in commercial fishing and clamming. He enjoyed the simple things in life and valued the friendships and relationships he made throughout the years.

In keeping with Charlie’s wishes, there will be no service.

In lieu of flowers, plants, gifts, or memorials, the family asks that you honor Charlie’s memory by performing a kind gesture for someone else.
