Betty Lou Mensing, age 94, of Breese, and formerly of O'Fallon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Memorial Care Center in Belleville. Born on March 11, 1930, in Beckemeyer, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Erma (nee Wylie) Frey.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Albert Mensing, whom she married on October 1, 1949, in East St. Louis. Albert passed away on May 3, 1975. She was also preceded in death by her son, Steven Michael Mensing; her sister, Edith (Pete) Lappe; and her sister-in-law, Josephine "Nora" Frey.

Betty is survived by her devoted daughter-in-law, Jo Marie Mensing of O'Fallon; cherished grandchildren, Brian Michael Mensing and Sarah Anne Mensing; her siblings, Kenneth Frey of California and Joyce (David) Beckemeyer of Beckemeyer; and her special niece, Janice Hemann of Breese. She also leaves behind numerous other nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her.

Betty dedicated many years to her work at Sam's Club in O'Fallon, IL, where she made many friends and memories. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren, always putting family first. Known for her straightforward nature, Betty's honesty was a defining trait, and you always knew where you stood with her. In her younger years, she loved socializing with friends and enjoying an ice-cold beer.

A family remembrance service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family (checks payable to Jo Mensing) and will be received at the visitation or by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5 ^th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
