Anthony A. "Tony" Endres, age 87, of Breese, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at HSHS St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. He was born on September 18, 1938, to Anton B. and Marie (nee Haar) Endres at their family farm in Breese, Tony spent his entire life on the land he loved, dedicating himself to farming and the values of hard work, faith, and family.

Tony married Mary L. Endres (nee Hustedde) on August 3, 1968, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and she survives in Breese. He is also survived by his children, Craig (Lynette) Endres of Nashville, David (Jayne) Endres of Edwardsville, Cheri (David) Johnson of Breese, and Patrick (Carla) Endres of Centralia; grandchildren, Calvin Endres, Sarah Endres, Rylie (Jordan) Kraljev, Parker Johnson (friend, Sarah Lipski), Avery Endres, and Aiden Endres; brother, Jerry (Ruth) Endres of Breese; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Leri (Bob) Kuhl, Florence (George) Sarten, Margie (Hugo) Huelsmann, Dolores (Ralph) Fonke, Virgil (Genny) Endres, and Norman (Rosie) Endres; parents-in-law, Gerhard and Alvina (nee Becker) Hustedde; and brothers-in-law, Ralph Hustedde and Virgil Hustedde.

Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard. A lifelong farmer, he found great satisfaction in working the land and caring for the family farm that had been his home since birth. In addition to farming, he worked as a meat cutter at Hunter Packing Company and Miller Ham Company. His strong faith guided his life, and he was a devoted member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869.

When he wasn't working, Tony loved spending time outdoors. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter and, in his younger years, enjoyed bowling and playing softball. His greatest joy, however, was his family. Nothing made him happier than watching his grandchildren grow, spending time with them, and also cheering them on from the sidelines at their ball games. He also enjoyed traveling, playing cards with his family, and became well known among family and friends for always having a Twinkie tucked away in his pocket.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. Thomas Lugge presiding. Private interment for family will follow.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 8:30 – 10:45 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown.

In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Boniface Parish, or Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
