Marie Agnes Zimmerman, nee Bechtoldt,
92, of Trenton, died Thursday February 10, 2011 in Lebanon,
IL.
She was born August 25, 1918 in
Belleville to Henry and Hilda (Cordie) Bechtoldt: they preceded her
in death.
She married Gerald Zimmerman
September 22, 1943 at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Belleville. He
preceded her in death August 19, 2005.
Also preceded in death by brothers,
Elmer, Cletus, and Hank Bechtoldt and a sister-in-law, Margarite
Bechtoldt.
Surviving are daughters Ruth Ann
(Walt) Spihlman of Trenton, Mary Ellen (Lloyd) Murphey of Foristell,
MO, Judy (Jerry) Schachner of O’Fallon, Joan (Mike) Stanfill of
Vienna; grandchildren, Denise Spihlman, Craig (Angie) Spihlman, Tim
(Jen) Spihlman, Jeni (Andrew) Wallenberg, Patrick (Melissa) Murphey,
Michael (Laura) Murphey, Mary (Bryan) Flory, Becky (Scott) French,
Donald (Debbie) Schachner, Deb (Pat) Syano, Janice (Gary) Gaubatz,
Susan (Scott) Biggerstaff, Daniel Schachner, Chris (fiancée Amber
Lowe)Stanfill, Melissa (Beau) Stanfill, and Sarah (friend Ted Nelson)
Stanfill; 20 great grandchildren Josh and Hannah Frerker, Erica,
Erin, Allison, Adam, Nick, and Natalie Spihlman, Gerald, Caroline,
and Sean Murphey, Zachary, Kelsey, and Alex French, Oliver Gaubatz,
Tyler, Kinsey, and Trevor Biggerstaff, and Ethan and Zoe Stanfill;
brothers, Raymond (Lucille) Bechtoldt of Medford, Oregon, Robert
(Len) Bechtoldt of Belleville; sisters, Rita (Gene) Wilhelm of
Lebanon, Catherine (Eddie) Pingsterhaus of Germantown, and Rosemary
Bechtoldt of Belleville; and a sister-in-law Mary Jo Bechtoldt of
Mascoutah.
Marie was a homemaker and later
worked as a clerk at Hathaway Hardware in St. Louis and helped on
the farm.
She was an active participant of St.
Mary’s Church where she served on the Altar Sodality and as a
Eucharistic Minister, Brownies, Girl Scouts, 4H Leader, Mater Dei
Mother’s and Friends, Trenton Senior Citizens, St. Clair County
Homemakers Club, Confraternity of the Christian Doctrine, and the
Shiloh Valley Grange.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial
will be Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:00 AM
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in
Trenton with Fr. Donald Blaes
officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery,
Trenton.
Visitation will be Sunday, February
13, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday, February 14, 2011
from 8:00-9:45 AM at the Moss
Funeral Home in Trenton.
Memorials can
be made to Mater Dei High School, St. Mary’s Church or Heartland
Hospice and will be received at the funeral home. |
