  Services:  A memorial service is being arranged in Penn.

 

 

Randy Lee “DD” Rakers, 26, of Scheller, IL and formerly of Carlisle, PA, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO as the result of a tractor accident. 

He was born December 13, 1984 in Carlisle, PA to Randall and Betty Lou (Stambaugh) Rakers; his father survives in Carlisle, PA and his mother preceded him in death in 1992. 

Also surviving are his sisters, Shyla Rakers of Carlisle, PA, Melissa (Michael) Henry and Heather Rakers all of Newville, PA; paternal grandparents, Francis “Bud” and Mary Jo (Smith) Rakers of New Baden and Maternal Grandparents, Robert and Ruth (Crull) Stambaugh of Newville, PA;  nephews and nieces, Joshua Diehl, Elizabeth Henry, Christopher Rakers, Betty Lou Grindberg, Trevor Henry, and Zach Snyder; aunts and uncles, Debra (Brad) Snyder of New Baden, Robert (Beth) Stambaugh, Allan (Pete) Stambaugh all of Bloserville, PA, Cheryl (Niles) Ficcalora, Kim (Kevin) Snyder all of Carlisle, PA, and Bonnie (Ray) Snyder of Newville, PA; and numerous cousins. 

Randy Lee worked on the Pro Staff for Mossy Oak where he contributed to many conventions and seminars.  He was also associated with the Pro Staff Biologic Division of Mossy Oak teaching soil testing, planting, and positioning of food plots. DD was a true outdoorsman giving his knowledge and heart to helping, guiding, and hunting with the Army Wounded Warriors (AW2), JAKES (youth turkey hunters), and Wheelin Sportsmen (Handicapped, Disabled, or Wounded).  He truly loved teaching young people about hunting and archery; and he enjoyed playing the guitar.  

He was a member of Mount Rock Methodist Church in Carlisle, PA, the National Wild Turkey Federation, National Rifle Association, Buckmasters, Bassmasters, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Club, and the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, IA. 

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania. 

Memorials can be made to the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors (PW2) and will be received through Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL  62230  who is handling the arrangements.
