Eugene O. Niemeyer, 86, of Breese,
died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St.
Louis,
MO.
He was born June 26, 1925 in Breese
to Henry and Emma (Hustedde) Niemeyer: they preceded him in death.
Also preceded in death by sons,
Donald and Fredrick Niemeyer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law
Ralph Schrage, Ralph Eilers, Ray and Louise Richter, Norbert and
Flora Richter, Estelle and Art Kueneke, Richard and Dorothy Richter,
John “Jack” Vahlkamp, and Dorothy Richter.
He married Lorene Richter on May 12,
1948 at St. Augustine Church in Breese and she survives in Breese.
Also surviving are his children,
Gary (Marie) Niemeyer of Breese, Nancy (John) Huelsmann of Aviston,
Mike (Cindy) Niemeyer of Breese, Mark (Carol) Niemeyer of Breese,
Jim (Teresa) Niemeyer of Germantown, Carl (Rita) Niemeyer of Breese,
John (Janice) Niemeyer of Breese, and Carol (Scott) Voyles of
Aviston; 25 grandchildren, Brad, Kevin, Erin, Keri, Tricia, Derek,
Sara, Angie, Nick, Luke, Jeff, Chris, Craig, Kelly, Katrina, Andrew,
Laura, Alison, Brian, Patrick, Erica, Abby, Jared, Alexis, Tori; 7
great grandchildren Carter, Max, Gabby, Alyse, Blake, Madison,
Morgan; sisters, Katie Schrage and Henrietta Eilers both of Breese;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jane Vahlkamp, Casper Richter,
and R. Joe (Barb) Richter all of Breese.
Eugene was retired as a carpenter
after 40 years and also was a grain farmer. After retirement Eugene
enjoyed wood crafting and he was an avid euchre player.
He was a member of St. Dominic
Church, Men’s Sodality, and served as a Eucharistic minister,
past president of the St. Dominic parish council, 60 year member and
past secretary and treasurer
of the Breese Knights of
Columbus council 2869 and Columbian Association , and Carpenter’s
Local 443 of Belleville.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial
will be Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 am at St. Dominic Church in
Breese with Fr. Patrick Peter and Fr. William Hitpas officiating.
Interment St. Dominic-St. Augustine Cemetery
Visitation Friday, October 14 from 4
to 9 PM and Saturday, October 15 from 8 to 9:45 am at the Moss
Funeral Home in Breese
Knights of Columbus will pray the
rosary at 7 PM on Friday evening at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to Mater Dei
High School, All Saints Academy or St. Dominic Church and will be
received at the funeral home. |
