Sophie M. Leonard, nee Kohnen, 95 of Germantown, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Breese Nursing Home. 

Mrs. Leonard was born March 26, 1915 in Germantown to Henry and Elizabeth (Karhoff) Kohnen; they preceded her in death. 

She married Joseph L. Leonard, Sr. on September 14, 1938 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Clayton; he preceded her in death on October 28, 2005. 

Also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Leonard; brothers, Herman Kohnen and Henry Kohnen; sisters, Bernadine Kohnen and Ann Kohnen; and sisters-in-law, Florence Kohnen and Margaret Kohnen. 

Surviving are her children, Mary “Pepe” (Cyril “Cy”) Korte of Germantown, Frank (friend Barb Wempe) Leonard of Breese, and Joseph (Paulette) Leonard, Jr. of Germantown; 10 grandchildren, Buffy (Mark) Jansen, Becky (Kelly) Vogel, Cory (Melanie) Korte, Robin (John) Crouch, Holly (Cory) Timmermann, Cristal (special friend Jim Muskopf, Jr.) Leonard, Jill (Dave) Thomas, Charlotte (Curt) Voss, Curtis Leonard, and Shelly (Steve) Rehkemper; and 13 great-grandchildren, Jake, Jessica, Kristin, Destin, Griffin, Josie, Kayla, Marshall, Simon, Sophie, Caitlin, Cameron, and Candace. 

Sophie retired as a seamstress from the Belleville Pants Factory and was a member of St. Boniface Church. 

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Fr. James Buerster officiating.  Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. 

Visitation will be Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday, October 18, 2010 from 9:00-10:45 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Germantown. 

Memorials can be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
