Raymond J. Johnson Sr. 85 of Beckemeyer died Friday December 30, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. 

He was born April 23, 1926 in Breese to Martin and Rose (Dulle) Johnson and the preceded him in death. 

Also preceded in death by daughters Pam Griffin, Sandy Shelton, brothers Erwin Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Orville Johnson,  Martin Johnson, sister Joan Wheelan, brothers-in-law Norman Wheelan, Sam Basso, sisters-in-law Helen Johnson, Carol Duncan. 

He married Darlene Haar September 21, 1968 in Belleville, and she survives in Beckemeyer. 

Also surviving are his children Debbie (Terry) Kimbrell of Las Vegas NV, Trish Cruz of Fairview Heights, Marcia (Gary) Jansen of Beckemeyer, Paula (John) Pate of Beckemeyer, Laura (friend Curt Thoele) Grapperhaus of Beckemeyer, Michelle Johnson of Belleville, Raymond (Anne) Johnson Jr. of Hamilton OH, Chastity (Corey) Gammon of Virginia Beach VI, Rachel (Rodger) Edwards of Carlyle. 

Many grandchildren and great grandchildren 

Brother John (Dori) Johnson of Germantown. 

Sisters Rose Basso, Caroline (Bob) Cordia all of St. Louis, MO 

Brothers and sisters-in-law Evelyn Johnson of Beckemeyer, Millie Johnson of Breese, Josephine (Jack) Hogan of Arkansas, Ron Haar of Breese, Dan (Lyn) Haar of Germantown, Sharon (Mike) Peppenhorst of Beckemeyer , Mike (Linda) Haar of Beckemeyer. 

Ray was retired from laborers local 309 in Collinsville. 

Member of St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer, American Legion Post 1227 in Beckemeyer, VFW Post 3523 in Carlyle. 

Graveside services will be held on Thursday January 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer. Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. 

Full military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post members. 

Memorials can be made to Carlyle VFW or Beckemeyer American Legion and will be received through Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
