Virginia B. Holten, nee Schulte, 91 of Trenton, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Highland. 

Mrs. Holten was born June 22, 1919 in Albers, IL to Herman and Myrtle (Harris) Schulte; they preceded her in death. 

She married Robert Holten on June 14, 1952 at St. John United Church of Christ in Trenton; he preceded her in death on June 2, 1985. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a step-sister, Norene Vaninger. 

Surviving is a cousin Herschel Harris of St. Simons Island, GA and several second cousins, one being Robert Vaninger of Trenton. 

Virginia taught school for 46 years starting in Alhambra, then 4 years in St. Jacob, and the remaining years at Lebanon Grade School. 

She was a very active member of St. John United Church of Christ, women’s fellowship, and J.O.Y. in Trenton, the Trenton Library, Eastern Star, and the Retired Teachers of Illinois.  Virginia was also a volunteer at the Hitz Home in Alhambra. 

Graveside Services will be Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Trenton Cemetery with Rev. Linda Coulson officiating. 

Memorials can be made to St. John United Church of Christ and will be received through Moss Funeral Home in Trenton who is in charge of the arrangements.
