Jane Henss, nee Midgley, 93, of
Trenton, died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Countryside Manor in
Aviston.
Mrs. Henss was born February 23,
1918 in Lebanon to Ralph and Augusta (Campe) Midgley; they preceded
her in death.
She married Melvin Henss on February
23, 1938 at St. Mary Church in Trenton; he preceded her in death on
October 27, 1992.
Also preceded in death by a son,
Ralph Henss; a granddaughter, Shelena Henss; twin brother in
infancy, Ralph Midgley; and brothers, Robert Midgley and William
Midgley.
Surviving are her children, Richard
(Sharon) Henss, Robert (Jackie) Henss, and Janet (Carl) Durkee all
of Trenton; a daughter-in-law, Elaine (Don) Ortmann of Millstadt; 12
Grandchildren, Joe (Susan) Henss, Jean (Shane) Reinneck, David (Melyssa)
Henss, Connie (Jeff) Nunn, Rich (Nancy) Henss, Jr., Karen (Bob)
Nave, Dr. Kathy (Tom) Eaton, Kevin (Lauren) Henss, Keith (Lisa)
Henss, Brian Durkee, Jason Durkee, and Aaron (Lauren) Durkee; 16
Great-Grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Helen Midgley of Trenton,
Vera (Walter “Red”) Kuhn of Trenton, and Wilma Henss of New Baden.
Jane was a homemaker and along with
her husband operated a dairy and grain farm. She was an
accomplished seamstress and quilter, and also enjoyed playing cards
and dancing. She had a true love for the outdoors and family,
especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Mary
Catholic Church and Altar Sodality, St. Clair County Farm Bureau,
and was a 20+ year 4-H leader working with her children and many of
her grandchildren through those years.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial
will be Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM
at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Vincent Haselhorst
officiating. Interment will follow in
St. Mary
Cemetery,
Trenton.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April
12, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, April 13, 2011
from 8:00-9:45 AM at the Moss
Funeral Home in Trenton.
Memorials can be made to the
Cerebral Palsy Association or to the Multiple Sclerosis Association
and will be received at the funeral home. |
