John P. “Jack” Dilley, 80 of Trenton, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at Breese Nursing Home. 

Mr. Dilley was born June 27, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Manning “Bud” and Esther (Ritzheimer) Dilley; they preceded him in death. 

He married Bernette “Betty” Wellen on April 11, 1959 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton; she survives in Trenton. 

Also surviving are his children, Karen (Matthew) Brobeck and Stephen (Jennifer) Dilley all of St. Louis; 3 Grandchildren, Rachel and Mason Brobeck and Jordan Mondt; a sister, Mary (Jim) Reilmann of Breese; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marge Dilley of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Delores (Gerald) Ernst of Belleview, IA, Marvin (MaryAnn) Wellen of Trenton, Orville (Doris) Wellen of Washington, MO, Ralph Wellen of Trenton, Clara (James) Seiffert of Carlyle, and Robert (Mary) Wellen of Trenton. 

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Dilley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ben and Bernadine (Rolves) Wellen; and a brother-in-law, James Wellen. 

Jack retired from Scott Air Force Base in 1985 as a Computer Specialist where he was involved with the first computer on the Base.  He was ordained as a Deacon in 1975 and was the first permanent Lay Deacon in the Belleville Diocese.  

 He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Trenton where he served as a Deacon for over 20 years and he was also a member of the Trenton Knights of Columbus Council 2932. 

A Memorial visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton. 

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Trenton with Fr. Louis Koehr officiating. 

Memorials can be made to St. Mary’s Church or to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.
