Norman E. Brown, 71, of Beckemeyer,
died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Brown was born May 12, 1939 in
Old Ripley to Harold S. and Edna (Dauderman) Brown; they preceded
him in death.
Also preceded in death by a son,
Danny Edward Brown; a brother, Danny Edward Brown; and a
brother-in-law, Richard Landolt.
He married Judy Strake on September
20, 1969 in Carlyle; she survives in Beckemeyer.
Also surviving is his daughter,
Cindy (Mark) Hazelip of Martinsburg, IN; 6 Grandchildren, Ashley
(Mike) Batt, Meggen Hazelip, Micah (Angie) Hazelip, Josh Hazelip,
Flint Hazelip, and Gracie Hazelip; 2 Great-Grandchildren, Kylie and
Chase Batt; a sister, Irma Landolt of Greenville; and sisters-in-law
and brothers-in-law, Betty Smith, Dan (Rosie) Strake, and Bucky
(Doris) Strake all of Breese.
Norman was a veteran of the United
States Army and retired in 2006 as the Chief of Police in
Beckemeyer. Prior to his police work in Beckemeyer, he also worked
as an officer in Germantown,
Greenville, Troy, and Patoka
and also worked as a guard at Menard.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday,
January 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese with
Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. Interment will follow in Brown
Cemetery, Old Ripley, IL.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January
18, 2011 from 4:00-8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, January 19, 2011
from 8:00-10:00 AM at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
